Super Cheap Fall Mirror

Last night I wanted to redo the mirror in our bedroom, Fall is one of my favorite times of year, (besides Christmas) so I decided to make a Fall inspired mirror to put up. It didn't cost me a penny and only took an hour to make! All you need is some cardboard, hot glue gun, rope, twine, and a little round mirror. Hobby Lobby usually has these for 50% off every other week. Let;s get started!

Photobucket

Start by cutting a circle out of cardboard. It dosent have to be perfect, the leaves will make it look round.

Photobucket

Next start hot gluing your leaves. (NOTE: For tips on how bring nature inside hop on over to The Frugal Homemaker.)

I only had to do about 3 laps before I was ready to add my mirror.

Next I wrapped some rope in twine. Feel free to your rope if you would like to, the twine just working better with the colors of my leaves.

Photobucket

Hot glue in place, and your finished! Mine was very light, so i just added a little twine loop to the back to hang it with.

I tried it out in a few different places around the house.

DIY Skeleton

Photobucket

I just want to go ahead and apologize for these horrible pictures! I had no idea what I was doing, I was just going with the flow and I didn't think this would work out at all. That being said... I wanted to make some scary props for Halloween this year, I couldn't find tutorials anywhere on how to do it, so I decided to wing it!

Photobucket

To start I built my base from some leftover wood (I changed my base later on). And then using brown paper bags (or newspaper, etc. whatever you have) I started forming arms, and hands, using tape to keep them in place.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I used some duct tape and wrapped everything up tight to make them look more it look more like bones. I changed my base also so a skinny stick, and made the shoulders out of paper.

Photobucket

Then I added some ribs, and the colar bones.

Photobucket

I bought a Skeleton head and did some paper mache on it, that way I can make a couple for free!

Photobucket

Here he is in my front yard, Im thinking he needs a gravestone and some dirt so it looks like he is breaking free from the ground?? I painted him flat black, and attached the head using duct tape. I then laid some cloth over him (you can get this at Dollar Tree for $1 a pack). I ended up attaching him to a flat piece of wood on the bottom so he is more sturdy. I know this is not a very in depth tutorial, I plan on making a few more of these guys and I will be sure to take ALOT of picture for you guys.

Photobucket
Overall costs- Duct tape:$6
Skeleton Head:$5.99
Cloth:$1
Everything else I had on hand. Not bad for $12.99!
Any questions just leave me a comment and Ill get back with you guys.

Fall Wreath

I wanted to do a quick post and show you guys the wreath I made for fall. It won't be hung till after Halloween, but I wanted to go ahead and get it done. Stay tuned for some Halloween crafts I have been working on!

Coffee Table Redo

Photobucket

I have not been doing to many projects, were about to go on a little vacation so I have been taking it easy. I got this coffee table for $15 and couldn't pass up redoing it for the living room!

Photobucket

And here she is now. I love her! She is exactly what I was going for, I would love a round coffee table one day but for now she works great. I wanted a dark wood top, and a distressed rustic white bottom. I did a few coats of stain on the top, and painted the bottom white, then went over it with stain and distressed! Super easy, I made sure to do a top coat to protect it sense it will be used a lot! Heres a few more pictures:

We have been thinking about opening me up an etsy, or another account to sell some of my work. I know I haven't shown much, I am posting below some samples. Forgive me if I am absent for a little while I am going to be busy getting some signs done for inventory but I will share with y'all as I finish them to see what every one thinks. I also need to work on getting my name and work out there to help my business be successful when it is launched so please speed the work and repin on interest to help! It has taken a lot to actually go through with this, its something I love but never thought I could do for a job if you know what I mean:)

I plan on doing mostly home signs, some outdoor ones ranging from flags, military related signs, lyrics, bible verses, and maybe a few furniture pieces. I am can't even describe the excitement I have to get started. I just want to say thank you to everyone who stops by and checks my page, I am so thankful for the support, it means the world!

DIY Earring Holder

Photobucket

Here is the earring holder I made today also, it did not take long and was super easy. Hope you guys like it!

Photobucket

First I started with a frame, I spray painted this one white.

Photobucket

Then I brushed some tan across it to make it look more distressed.

Photobucket

Next I cut out my chicken wire (I got over 2 feet for around $14 at Lowes) around the back of the frame.

Photobucket

I couldn't decide it I wanted to paint the back of the frame, or cover it in scrapbook paper or fabric. There are so many options, but I went ahead and painted it to be quick.

Photobucket

I started with white, then did a light layer of brown and blue.

Photobucket

The frame looked to white against the background so I gave it a sweep of dark brown and a light layer of some black. It gave the plastic frame a look of worn wood that I loved!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then I used a flat head to push the chicken wire and the back into the picture frame.

Add your earrings and your done!
